Meet The All New Western Star 5700 XE

You expect top-of-the-line when you buy a Western Star truck. Now Western Star has combined their traditional best with the very latest innovative technologies and design advancements, in the all-new 5700 XE. It’s everything you would expect from Western Star, and a whole lot more. You might call it an “extreme efficiency truck.”

Efficiency starts at the core.

Western Star didn’t just randomly select components to build the 5700 XE’s power core, they engineered solutions based entirely on the famous performance and durability of Detroit engines, axles and transmissions. Since it’s all Detroit, it’s all covered by a single factory warranty.

Optional: step it up to the cutting edge, with the new Detroit Integrated Powertrain a package that combines the downsped DD15, direct drive DT12 transmission and specific rear axle ratios to industry-leading powertrain efficiency. Choose standard 6×2 axle configuration with 2.28 ratio or optional 6×4 with 2.41 ratio.

Sleekness drives a sharper bottom line.

The Western Star 5700 XE might look a bit like the traditional tough hombre road warrior, but it’s smooth around the edges to ensure excellent fuel-efficiency.

Optional: all-new chassis side fairings reduce drag as much as 6% without sacrificing easy access to the DEF tank and batteries. And they’re modular, so if a part is damaged you won’t automatically have to replace the entire thing.

You’ll find lightweight aluminum where it makes perfect sense – fifth wheels and super single wheels. What else is light and strong? The newly redesigned hood and the already-proven 10 13/16-inch single frame rail chassis. The truck slices through the air, thanks to outstanding drag reduction. Yet it’s still Western Star durable, and the 5700 XE’s cab is still constructed of steel to ensure safety.

No truck can be great without a comfortable driver.

This is a driver’s truck. The cab retains all the appointments and superior quality detailing that say “Western Star,” plus a host of new additions designed to make a driver’s work day safer and less stressful and a driver’s after-hours life on the road far more comfortable:

  • Detroit Virtual Technician that delivers almost instantaneous critical engine data and diagnostics.
  • On-board tablet that tracks service hours and inspection data, enables 2-way communication and supports electronic navigation.
  • Intelligent load monitoring that controls air suspension to improve traction.
  • Predictive cruise control that “sees” the road ahead and responds automatically, increasing safety and reducing fuel consumption.
  • At-a-glance viewing of speedometer, tach, fuel gauge and Virtual Technician update screen.
  • Ergonomic column designed to keep drivers’ hands on the wheel, with self-canceling turn signals, windshield washer control and transmission stalk control with the DT12 transmission.
  • Steering wheel with integrated cruise control/interrupt, stereo controls and Bluetooth® mobile connection.
  • Cab that’s roomy, quiet, comfy and easy to navigate.
  • Additional ducting aimed where you want it most.
  • Side window defogger and misters that help keep glass clear.
  • NITE Phoenix non-idling HVAC system and Espar diesel heater.

And let’s be honest: in this day of extreme driver shortages, and with some of your top guys (and women) about to retire, offering a quality driving experience could put you in the driver’s seat when it comes to attracting and retaining the cream of the crop.

The Western Star 5700 XE is built in the U.S.A. Assembled by hand, one truck at a time. Daimler know-how and technology and Western Star’s superior workmanship enable this all-new truck to top the scale when it comes to rugged components, pioneering design, stylish good looks, thoughtful amenities, safety, comfort and – oh, yes – fuel economy that will lower your total cost of ownership. Your logical next move is to come see it in person.
