Safely maintaining roads with Alamo Boom Mowers

Anyone responsible for roadside maintenance knows the work has little in common with mowing your lawn. The ground is never smooth. Sometimes slopes can be very steep. Drainage ditches can be soggy. Motorists are zipping past, sometimes a little too fast and not always very attentive. And you’re not just mowing grass. When you need equipment that can handle the job over any terrain, safely and efficiently, Alamo boom mowers are the machine of choice.

Alamo Industrial® is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of tractor-mounted mowers, brush-cutters and land-clearing equipment. They’ve been around for decades, so they know what it takes to clear the roadside. Alamo has a long-established reputation for reliability, toughness and efficient cost of operation.

It’s not just a job, you’re improving public safety.

Roadways that look tidy are more attractive. But the real purpose of controlling vegetation beyond the shoulder is to protect motorists. You’re improving visibility of upcoming interchanges, intersections, driveways or small side roads or around curves. You’re helping drivers see traffic control signs, guardrail or other hazard markers. And keeping roadsides trimmed minimizes the danger if a driver veers off-road for some reason.

Alamo boom mowers keep your operator safe too, allowing equipment to travel in an upright, stable position while mowing even a steep bank above or below grade.

Alamo makes one of the industry’s best boom mowers for highway and roadside mowing and clearing larger vegetation such as tree limbs, up to 5 inches in diameter. Alamo boom mowers are budget-conscious, because they’re so versatile. You don’t need a fleet of tractors to handle different roadside jobs, so you can be more productive. Alamo boom mowers are also built with safety top of mind, for operators, equipment and the public.

VERSA® Boom frame.

frame is interchangeable with other Alamo attachments. It works with any tractor that has at least 80 engine horsepower and an 85-inch wheelbase. And it mounts on the tractor’s underside, giving your operator a clear field of vision, to work more easily and safely. You can choose standard 4-lever cable controls or an optional joystick that lets your operator regulate all boom functions with fingertip touch.

Self-contained hydraulics are cost-efficient too, with gear pump and motor and a properly sized, side-mounted oil reservoir that maintains correct oil temperature without an expensive oil cooler.

Boom-Axe® rotary head.
Designed for cutting grass, weeds and brush, this is the perfect companion to the VERSA® boom frame, although it can also be mounted on a rear mount boom. The 60-inch cutting width and 20-foot boom length enable your operator to get more work done faster. They can open the corner door, exposing the blades to cut more effectively through heavy vegetation, or close the door for mulching material after it’s cut.

Steeply pitched slopes are dangerous for tractors to navigate and low areas can be too wet for tractors to maneuver. With theAlamoboom mower, you can maintain embankments from a safe grade while easily reaching to the side, uphill or downhill or over a guardrail or other objects.

If you run mowing equipment, safety is your #1 concern. The responsibility falls on you to make sure your company’s investments are protected. This means protecting your equipment, but more importantly, your people.
