Construction Industry Vows to Hire Vets

Now that the construction industry is looking forward to happier days again, contractors of all types and sizes are looking to beef up their workforce. That’s good news for America’s veterans looking to transition back into civilian jobs. In fact, the construction industry has formally announced a plan to promote hiring veterans, pledging to fill more than 100,000 construction industry jobs with them within the next five years.

What's your Optimism Quotient? Wells Fargo Equipment Finance has released the results of their annual construction industry survey, and the numbers indicate optimism among both contractors and dealerships is the highest it's been in a number of years. Against a benchmark score of 100 that indicates ?igh?optimism, the survey revealed a score of 124 for 2014. That's up from 106 last year and a miserable 42 in 2009.

Nighttime Paving Jobs Offer Unique Hazards For Workers

Working hours for construction projects are usually determined at the time the construction projects are designed. There are some projects that have certain phases that can only be completed at night. Many major pavement resurfacing jobs are performed at night when traffic is low, making it easier for the ground crew to control traffic and allowing better production in high traffic areas.
