Hyundai Construction Introduces New R220LC-9A Crawler Excavator

Fast. Powerful. Comfortable. Convenient. Easy to service. Long-life components. You can have it all with the new Hyundai Construction R220LC-9A crawler excavator. This state-of-the-art machine is specifically designed to handle all your mid-size earthmoving projects as well as road and utility work and demolition.

With the R220LC-9A, you get stronger-than-ever performance, precision handling, outstanding versatility and the industry-leading quality that defines Hyundai Construction equipment. More productivity, with less operator effort.

The R220LC-9A gives you a maximum digging depth of 20’5” and up to 29,980 pounds of bucket breakout force. The 157hp Cummins Tier 4i engine is outfitted with a VGT turbocharger that uses variable airflow boost to smoothly match engine rpm and load demand. The proprietary air filter supports fast cycle times, and it helps reduce fuel consumption, along with the variable speed fan clutch, two-state auto deceleration system and optional economy mode.

Maintenance is faster and easier, thanks to ground level access to filters, fittings and other components, and extended-life perishables stretch service intervals. That means less down time, and that means more profit.

Everything about the R220LC-9A is new or upgraded.

  • Power. Of course you get the latest in engine technology, with the performance and reliability you’ve come to expect from Hyundai Construction, better fuel economy and lower emissions. It’s even quieter. Operators can choose among three power modes – standard, power or economy – and optional push-button ignition is also available.
  • Performance. Hydraulic system controls are smoother and more precise, with an improved auto boom and swing priority system, power boost and arm-in/boom-down flow regeneration system.
  • Controls. Sleek new console styling is more than just a pretty face. With adjustable height, digital display and joystick controls (including attachment controls) are right at hand. The console is integrated with the standard heated suspension seat, and there’s an optional heated air ride seat.

The 7-inch color touch-screen display is easy to read and easy to adjust, with integrated rear-view camera and real-time diagnostics that continuously monitor fuel, hydraulic oil and water temperatures to ensure most efficient performance.

There are two work mod es – digital and attachment, plus “user” which lets each operator set their own preferences. The operator can also choose 1- or 2-pump flow for attachments, boom speed and arm regeneration, and they can turn automatic power boost on and off via the display screen.

It’s a fully customizable working environment, allowing operators to work comfortably and efficiently. And it includes Hyundai Construction’s popular Hi-mate Remote Management System that uses GPS to enable better customer service and support.

  • Undercarriage. The R220LC-9A features sealed track chain and standard track rail guard. Debris clean-out is easier, with large upper roller cut-outs and tapered side frames. And access is easier and safer, with well-positioned, bolt-on steps.
  • Cab. When your workspace is uncomfortable, everything is harder. And working a construction site is demanding enough. So Hyundai has given this new excavator a streamlined cab designed for economy of movement, to make the day go faster with less stress and fatigue. That can go a long way toward attracting and keeping the best operators.

The cab is larger, and constructed of steel tubing for greater safety and durability. There’s more glass for better visibility, including a skylight, and it’s durable safety glass that won’t scratch or fade. There’s also an adjustable sunshade.

The cab features automatically controlled heat and AC, and amenities that will make even the most grueling day more pleasant – AM/FM stereo and MP3, hands-free phone and radio cable hookups, optional remote control for hands-free Bluetooth.

This new R220LC-9A from Hyundai Construction assures maximum performance to keep man and machine working productively, speeding mass production projects yet allowing highly refined control whenever it’s needed. That’s earthmoving, taken to the next level.
