Meet the new Sakai SV544-1: More Power, Better Efficiency, Same Proven Simplicity

What’s New on the Sakai SV544-1?

The biggest update is under the hood.

The Sakai SV544-1 now uses a Cummins F3.8 Performance Series engine producing 148 horsepower, replacing the previous 130-horsepower configuration. That represents a 14% increase in peak horsepower while maintaining the same engine speed.

Torque receives an even larger improvement. Peak torque increases from 360 lb-ft to 443 lb-ft, a 23% gain, and the new engine reaches that peak torque 100 rpm sooner. That should give operators stronger response when the machine is working under load, climbing grades, or compacting demanding materials.

At the same time, Sakai says fuel efficiency improves by an estimated 8%, with an ECO mode available to help operators further manage fuel use. The updated engine package also delivers an 8.2% reduction in CO2 emissions through the Cummins Single Module aftertreatment system.

In practical terms, the upgrade is designed to deliver more usable power without automatically translating into higher fuel costs.

For contractors running a compactor day after day, even relatively small reductions in hourly fuel consumption can become meaningful over hundreds or thousands of operating hours.

The addition of ECO mode gives operators another tool for managing consumption when full power is not required.

Sakai now builds all of its North American soil rollers either in its Georgia facility or Japan, with the SV544-1 assembled domestically.
