ONE TRAILER DOESN'T FIT ALL: WHY CUSTOM FELLING TRAILERS DELIVER MORE
When it comes to transporting heavy equipment, oversized loads, or specialty cargo, one size doesn’t always fit all. That’s where Felling Trailers stand out—offering a wide range of custom trailer solutions built to match your unique business demands. Whether you’re in construction, utility, oil & gas, landscaping, or heavy haul, a trailer designed around your workflow can mean the difference between an efficient operation and daily frustration.
At Tracey Road Equipment, we proudly carry Felling Trailers, a leading American trailer manufacturer known for quality craftsmanship, engineering precision, and customizable options that deliver long-term value. If your trailer isn’t doing exactly what you need—it’s time to explore what custom-built Felling Trailers can do for your fleet.
Don’t Compromise. Customize. With Felling Trailers.
Felling Trailers, originally known as Sauk Centre Welding, started building trailers in 1974. As Sauk Centre Welding, Merle Felling Sr. (founder of Felling Trailers) saw a need for more quality construction in many of the trailers his weld shop serviced and repaired. It was then that he decided to start building his own trailers, and so Felling Trailers was born.
As trailer sales grew, so did the types of trailer models that Merle and his growing team built. Then and still today, there were what you would call a “standard” trailer build with basic features and a “custom” trailer build with added optional features. We believe in building a trailer to meet the needs of the operator and the equipment they are hauling.
Why Custom Trailers Matter
A standard trailer may seem like the most cost-effective option, but off-the-shelf designs often involve compromises—on dimensions, load capacities, tie-down configurations, axle setups, or ramp systems. These compromises can result in wasted time on every load, safety concerns, or even DOT compliance issues.
Custom trailers eliminate those compromises.
Benefits of a Custom Felling Trailer:
Optimized loading and unloading for your specific equipment
Increased payload capacity without exceeding GVWR or bridge laws
Improved operator safety with specialized ramps, lighting, and tie-downs
Longevity and lower total cost of ownership, since the trailer does the job right from day one
Better branding—with custom paint, decals, and toolboxes for a professional fleet image
