INTRODUCING THE NEXT GENERATION: LIEBHERR EXCAVATORS JUST GOT AN UPGRADE
Liebherr has officially rolled out its Generation 8 Crawler Excavators, and the improvements are more than just incremental—they’re game-changing. Designed to increase productivity, operator comfort, and fuel efficiency, these excavators are built for today’s demanding construction environments.
Whether you’re grading, trenching, demoing, or loading trucks, the new Liebherr Excavators deliver more digging power, smarter hydraulic response, and better in-cab visibility than ever before. And now, they’re available through Tracey Road Equipment.
The Next Generation of Liebherr Excavators Has Arrived
New settings and assistance systems supplement the already comprehensive range of Liebherr generation 8 crawler excavators. These developments aim to better meet the market requirements when it comes to performance, energy efficiency, and ease of use, making Liebherr Excavators a great choice for multiple applications.
What’s New in Generation 8?
The Generation 8 excavator lineup includes seven new crawler excavator models: R 922, R 924, R 926, R 928, R 930, R 934, R 938, and R 945. All models fall between the 22 to 45 metric ton range, offering performance upgrades tailored for general contractors, site developers, and utility work crews.
According to Liebherr’s official announcement, the design priorities for Generation 8 included:
Increased performance
Enhanced operator comfort
Simplified daily maintenance
Improved machine stability and lift capacity
These machines are powered by Liebherr’s own diesel engines, which meet Tier 4 Final / Stage V emissions standards, and integrate with new smart assistance systems for greater operational control.
Performance Enhancements at a Glance
Liebherr re-engineered the entire structure of these excavators for better digging forces, lifting capacities, and breakout power, especially at extended reach.
Key technical advancements include:
Up to 15% more bucket breakout force
More powerful hydraulics and redesigned boom/stick geometry
Higher digging and lifting performance, particularly when using heavy attachments
Redesigned counterweight system for added balance and safety
These changes make Generation 8 excavators better suited for slope work, lifting heavy pipe, loading trucks, and mass excavation—without increasing the operating weight beyond manageable limits.
Operator Comfort & Technology Upgrades
Inside the cab, operators will immediately notice the difference. Liebherr has equipped every Generation 8 model with an improved workspace that reduces fatigue and improves visibility. These smart tools help crews perform precision work faster, and with less risk of rework or safety issues.
Cab improvements include:
Wider access doors and lower entry height
Enhanced ergonomic layout with joystick-integrated armrests
A new 10-inch touchscreen monitor with customizable display
Optional camera systems for full 360° visibility
Climate control and reduced in-cab noise
Operators can also opt for Liebherr’s Assistance Systems, which include:
Load moment indication
Attachment recognition
2D/3D machine guidance
Easier Maintenance & Daily Checks
Liebherr focused heavily on simplifying daily servicing and diagnostics. The Generation 8 machines feature:
Ground-level access to all service points
New maintenance catwalks for larger models
Digital monitoring systems to track wear and performance
Easy-to-reach grease points and filters
By minimizing time spent on checks and maintenance, crews can get to work faster—and reduce the risk of equipment downtime.
More Power, Less Fuel
All Generation 8 excavators are equipped with Liebherr’s in-house diesel engines, known for fuel efficiency and reliability. Paired with optimized load-sensing hydraulics and smart eco modes, Liebherr excavators deliver stronger performance with lower fuel consumption, helping operators meet environmental standards while reducing operating costs.
