LESS WRENCHING, MORE PROFIT: NEW 1,000 HOUR SERVICE INTERVAL ON LIEBHERR MATERIAL HANDLERS

Liebherr has announced a significant advancement for machine owners and fleet operators: the maintenance intervals on select Liebherr Material Handlers have been doubled from 500 to 1,000 operating hours. This change reduces service downtime, lowers operating costs, and reflects Liebherr’s continued investment in durable, efficient solutions for the scrap, recycling, and material handling industries.

As your trusted Liebherr dealer, Tracey Road Equipment is here to help you take full advantage of this upgrade and keep your machines running longer between stops.

Extended Service Intervals for Liebherr Material Handlers Explained

While the first two maintenance intervals remain at 500 and 1,000 operating hours respectively, Liebherr is introducing the new interval from the third maintenance onwards. This is made possible by various optimizations in conjunction with Liebherr original spare parts and Liebherr lubricants in the corresponding machines.

With the new maintenance interval of 1,000 operating hours, maintenance costs can be reduced by up to 30 %. The extended interval now applies to electric and diesel-powered material handling machines of the LH 40 to LH 150 (electric drive) and LH 30 to LH 150 (diesel drive) models.

What’s Changing - and Why It Matters

Previously, maintenance tasks such as oil and filter changes, lubrication, and air filter replacement were required every 500 hours. With the new standard, these tasks now only need to be performed every 1,000 hours—cutting required service visits in half.

For a fleet that runs Liebherr Material Handlers 2,000 hours annually, this means moving from four scheduled maintenance stops to just two. Over time, this adds up to:

How Liebherr Made It Possible

The extended service interval is the result of extensive field testing and smart engineering. Liebherr leveraged technology upgrades and machine refinements to make longer intervals both safe and effective.

Key improvements include:

These upgrades ensure that performance and component longevity are not compromised—while helping operators stay on the job longer without interruption.

What Machines Are Covered?

The 1,000-hour maintenance interval applies to select Liebherr LH Series Material Handlers that feature the latest engine and hydraulic configurations. These machines are commonly used in:

  • Scrap and recycling yards

  • Steel mill handling

  • Timber and log loading

  • Port terminals

  • Industrial bulk material operations

To confirm whether your machine qualifies for the updated service interval, reach out to your Liebherr dealer. At Tracey Road Equipment, we can review your machine’s specs, serial number, and service history to determine your eligibility.

Uptime, Efficiency, and Environmental Impact

Beyond the clear operational benefits, extended maintenance intervals also contribute to environmental responsibility by reducing oil waste, filter use, and transport emissions. When Liebherr Material Handlers spend more time working and less time in the shop, both profitability and sustainability improve.

Benefits of 1,000-hour intervals include:

  • Lower annual oil/filter consumption

  • Less fluid waste and disposal

  • More efficient fleet service planning

  • Increased operational uptime across the board
