AN IN-DEPTH LOOK: WHY THE HYUNDAI HT38 COMPACT TRACK LOADER IS TURNING HEADS

After its debut at the Utility Expo and months of buzz in the field, the Hyundai HT38 compact track loader is now officially available—and it’s already turning heads. As the largest and most powerful CTL in the Hyundai Construction Equipment lineup, the HT38 is built to compete with the best in the 3,800 lb. ROC class, blending muscle, tech, and comfort into one high-performing package.

Whether you’re in construction, landscaping, utility work, or snow removal, the HT38 is engineered to meet today’s toughest jobsite demands—without compromising operator control or long-term reliability.

Hyundai HT38: Big Power in a Compact Package

Hyundai’s new HT38 CTL provides an ideal combination of power and affordability, making it ideal for heavy-duty applications. The HT38 provides a 3,806 lb. ROC and is built with durability, performance, comfort, and serviceability in mind, delivering the reliability and versatility our customers expect from the Hyundai brand. It’s powered by a 115 hp turbocharged T4F Hyundai engine and features a modular cooling package with a variable speed, hydraulic driven reversible fan, ensuring long-lasting performance.

Born to Work: Power, Capacity & Versatility

Designed from the ground up with contractor feedback, the Hyundai HT38 was built to bridge the gap between compact flexibility and full-size muscle. It features a Hyundai 3.4L turbocharged T4F diesel engine rated at 115 HP—which means no DEF to manage, and plenty of torque on demand.

The HT38 boasts a rated operating capacity of 3,806 lbs. (at 35% tipping), making it ideal for heavy attachments like trenchers, Harley rakes, mulchers, or snow blowers. And with 9.7 inches of ground clearance, it’s ready to roll through mud, snow, and uneven terrain without hesitation.

Key Performance Specs:

  • Engine: Hyundai 3.4L, Tier 4 Final, 115 HP

  • ROC: 3,806 lbs (35%)

  • Hydraulic Flow: 22.7 gpm standard, 40 gpm high-flow

  • Travel Speed: Up to 9.2 mph (2-speed)

  • Operating Weight: 12,785 lbs

  • Clearance & Stability: 9.7″ ground clearance

At the 2023 Utility Expo, Hyundai emphasized the HT38’s flexibility with over 30 available attachments—from grapples and brush cutters to augers and auger drives. This model is built for the full range of compact loader applications, whether you’re prepping a utility trench or clearing snow off a hospital driveway.

Smart Controls, Premium Operator Experience

Step into the cab and you’ll immediately notice that Hyundai didn’t just build a powerful CTL—they built a comfortable, intelligent work environment designed for long days and demanding tasks.

Standard features include a 7-inch touchscreen monitor with diagnostic and control settings, a sealed pressurized cab with HVAC, and programmable controls for ISO/H-pattern compatibility. Operators can choose between multiple control patterns and fine-tune settings like speed sensitivity or hydraulic flow depending on the attachment in use.

Add in a rearview camera, ride control, and available Hi MATE telematics, and you have a compact track loader that’s every bit as advanced as it is rugged.

Additional Features:

Built for Contractors, Not Compromise

Hyundai built the HT38 for real-world performance, and early feedback confirms that. According to the launch teams at the Utility Expo, customers were impressed by its attachment versatility, powerful lift, and smooth controls.

The HT38 is an ideal choice for:

Its non-DEF engine, intuitive technology, and ease of servicing also make it a great option for fleet managers who want to reduce complexity without sacrificing capability.

Designed to Compete - and Win

With the HT38, Hyundai is stepping confidently into a highly competitive class of compact track loaders—and delivering a machine that holds its own against long-established names in the field.

It combines class-leading clearance, high ROC, and smart hydraulics in a platform that’s ready for any challenge. This is not an entry-level model—it’s a machine that gives contractors the power and confidence to handle serious work, day after day.
