Tracey Road Equipment is Expanding our East Syracuse Headquarters!

Tracey Road Equipment is expanding our flagship operation in East Syracuse, a move that will help us serve our customers even better and help our community continue to grow as well. We’re proud to have been part of this community since 1976, and as we continue to grow our business we are continually looking at ways to increase our presence in Central NY. In this case, we have simply outgrown our existing 55,000 square foot facility, so it’s time to add more space.

The 31,000 square foot addition will be attached to our existing main office in East Syracuse. It will include larger areas for our warehouse and sales and administrative offices as well as 10 heavy equipment garage bays.

Growing our customer service

The addition/expansion will provide much-needed space for our operation, allowing us to further improve our already-award-winning customer service. For example, the additional bays will enable our technicians to service trucks and equipment in a timelier manner, reducing downtime for our customers. The additional warehouse space will enable us to increase our in-stock parts inventory, which will also boost our ability to provide faster service to our customers as well as our own service techs.

Growing our community

This addition/expansion will create approximately 30 new family-wage jobs, bringing our total payroll in East Syracuse to about 170 employees. New positions will include diesel truck technicians, heavy equipment technicians, fabricators, shipping and receiving clerks as well as administrative positions.

Our expansion project will bring significant long-term economic benefits to our community. In recognition of that, the State of New York has provided a $400,000 grant to help fund the project. We have also applied for economic development incentives in the form of initial tax abatements, an exemption from sales taxes on construction materials, exemption from the state mortgage recording tax, and property tax discounts over the next 10 years.

Government programs like this help ease the up-front cost of investing in projects that will grow local and regional employment and tax revenue long term.

We have also recently partnered with BOCES, another growth avenue we are particularly excited about. BOCES (Board of Cooperative Education Services) supports the development of shared education and training programs that wouldn’t otherwise be financially feasible, making it easier to create programs that address local needs. Our new partnership with BOCES will create an embedded CTE (Career & Technical Education) program here at TRE.

Beginning in September 2020 we will have a Diesel Truck and Heavy Equipment Technology program onsite. This will allow local students to get hands-on experience working on trucks and heavy construction equipment. TRE and BOCES will also be exploring the possibility in the near future of creating an adult training program for diesel truck and heavy equipment service work.

Partnerships such as this provide skilled candidates to join our TRE team (or maybe other employers in the region), and that benefits our entire community.

At Tracey Road Equipment our goal each day is to give our customers the best experience possible. We understand that our customers have a choice, and we work very hard to be their best option. Expanding our operational capabilities and supporting technical training enable us to serve customers better now and ensure they will get superior service in the future.
